Yell Back to the Making of Dinner

Feeling rather proud of my own self today. Having been to the Farmer’s Market this past Sunday, I had a frig full of beautiful veggies which were not going to do anything on their own (other than rot of course). Due to the high demand of gymnastics and baseball schedules none of the fabulous dishes I envisioned have as yet graced our dinner table.

Today however, I rinsed and rubbed, sliced and diced and voila! I now have a beautiful vegetable soup in the crockpot, verde sauce in the freezer, and fennel, fava beans and baby artichokes ready for a saute. I am so impressed with my self. This little high I am on should last a bit longer…until the kids ask what’s for dinner.

Sadly, I am not completely immune to the moans and groans of disappointment they rarely fail to offer after I’ve slaved away. (Let’s see, why don’t I do this more often?!)  Now that my son is a bit older he will, from time to time, have the tact to suggest that my culinary effort is probably perfectly delightful…if you like that sort of thing. Then he will politely ask for a bowl of cereal.

Oh well. I will enjoy my lovely dinner with an equally lovely glass of wine. Let them eat cereal.
