*Special Shots for a Special Birthday!

All right folks, we are serving up some party shots to celebrate a very special Blondeshell around here.  Wanting to keep all drinks at this party TA-KEEEL-YA based, so as not to kill us all that much the morning after, here’s the menu and a few recipes that will accompany the Pomegranate Margaritas.

  1. White Tequila
  2. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  3. Granadine

Shake 2 parts tequila with a splash of lime juice and grenadine with ice.

Icy Fire

  1. Rumple Minze Peppermint Schnapps
  2. Gold Tequila

Layer equally the schnapps and the tequila.

Electric Banana

  1. Tequila Blanco
  2. Creme de Banane
  3. Lime Juice

Shake 2 parts tequila and 1 part each creme de banane and lime juice with ice.

Taste test on Friday!

*******Last Day of School Wacky Watermelon Margarita Friday*******

This Friday’s recipe will involve Silver Patron, fresh watermelon, agave, and fresh limes.  Recipe and remarks to follow.  If anyone has any experience in the watermelon margarita department–without watermelon schnapps (we are not going there) please let us know.  We are shooting from the hips on this one 🙂

Two fins up on the Blue Margarita.  Even non-believers of bright blue-colored drinks admitted they were tasty.  None of us felt that great the next morning, but the blues were followed by a lovely dinner with lovely wine and dancing followed by some Skinny Girl Margaritas.  We will have a guest author with that recipe coming soon…

Last Friday of May Mombshell Margarita Friday Featuring the Blue Margarita:

This Friday we are going to give Blue Margaritas a whirl in the ole Margaritaville Margarator.

We’re mixin’:

2 ounces tequila

1 ounce blue curacao

1 ounce simple syrup

1/2 ounce lime juice

1/2 ounce lemon juice

We will vote and get back to you to let you know if a Margarita can be blue…

Trader Joe’s Margarita Mixer: Two Fins Up

We Mombshells are not margarita mix kind of girls.  We like to blend our margaritas fresh.  Enough said, after two trial runs with the Trader Joe’s Margarita Mixer and the Margaritaville margarita machine, this mix gets the gold star approval.  It’s not too sweet, which is our usual complaint about store bought mixes, and its little bit of tartness makes a smooth, sippin’ margarita experience.

If you are in a hurry and want to whip up some margis fast without lots of mixing and juicing, give this one a try!

Mombshell Margarita Fridays–It Must Be Almost Summer!

Mombshell Margarita Fridays(MMF).  So many margarita kitchen gadgets, so little money and time.  If we could find a sponsor for MMF we would gladly try all of these machines to determine the ULTIMATE margarita maker.  To be honest, the Margaritaville Concoction Maker works wonders, but it’s all we know.

We would also like to hold a little Margarita Friday Recipe Contest.  Send us your BEST Margarita recipes…we will gladly  test them out to crown the Most Marvelous Margarita.  We need stuff to do AND we are big Margi fans.

Even brought margaritas to our last baseball game.  By the end of the 6th inning, I was being called, “The Margarita Mom.”  Don’t know if this is a good thing for my son’s reputation or not.  What the heck, of course it is!

The Margarita Mania?

The Marg-a-rama?

The Margarator?

Can we make a virgin version of margaritas for our kids with this thing?  Is that P.C.?  Do we just call it a ‘frozen concoction’ or a slushie?

When my kids saw the margaritarater in the Sky Mall magazine, they immediately showed me the pic and said, “Mom, you need this!”  Talking to Bangshell, her kids did the exact same thing.  Guess that shows it’s really meant to be–or they’ve been in cahoots to get their hands on this machine themselves!

We’ve joked long and hard about the margaritarator.  Actually, a large pic can even be found on our How? page.  This poor, ridiculous machine was never taken seriously, I mean, who buys something like that?

Mombshells, of course!  I took one look at the BevMo display and promptly plopped the huge box in my cart. It’s actually called the Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker. (By the way, Joe, the BevMo Man, was very impressed with my purchase and will be joining us this week for Friday Night Mombshell Margaritas)

We revved up the dream machine and christened the over-priced blender on our Mombshell retreat this week.  Have to admit, it did make a mighty fine tasting, icy cold margarita.  Thumbs up from the Shells.

    Frozen Watermelon Margarita

    (from Food & Wine magazine)

5 cups watermelon cut into one inch cubes with seeds removed
    1 cup white tequila
    1/2 cup fresh lime juice
    1/2 cup sugar

Put watermelon cubes in sealed plastic bag and place in freezer until firm, about 4 hours or overnight.

Place frozen watermelon cubes in 6-cup blender with other ingredients. If blender is small size, do two batches. Blend until smooth.
